Background
I was approached by colleagues in Facilities Management to produce a video promoting the USQ Garden Ambassador program to USQ staff, and promoting the efforts of Maintenance staff in preparing the Japanese Garden and Gumbi Gumbi Gardens for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
Upon accepting this request, the Facilities team booked in some time with me for shooting interviews with the talent, and I developed a list of questions to prompt talent with the aim to showcase what both sets of gardens had to offer.
Production Process
As the sole technical operator on this project, my involvement spanned the entirety of the production phases, through preparing the questions, capturing the location interviews (including setup of camera, lighting and audio monitoring), capturing relevant B-roll shots while considering appropriate time-of-day for the best natural lighting, editing, colour correction & grading, audio post and supporting vfx. I was also involved in coordinating talent for some pick-up shots which were required.
After submitting to client stakeholders for review, there were minor edits to the talent interview shots before finalising and delivering this project.
My Roles on this Project
Script, Videographer, Editor, Sound Effects
I created several concepts for a billboard to be positioned at the entrance of the University to promote the Japanese Garden and Gumbi Gumbi Garden. This involved working with the DVC (Enterprise Services) to developing concepts for the billboard, for review and approval with the Vice-Chancellor. This was prepared in time for the 2021 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
I liaised with the University Photographer to capture updated imagery of each of the gardens for inclusion on the signage, and the concept was passed over to the sign-writing contractor (who did tweak the design slightly) and the Facilities Management team for installation.

Though I was not involved in the re-branding efforts specifically for this item, the initial concept remains.
