Background
I identified a gap in video content providing students with information about the USQ Wi-Fi network and reached out to the ICT Training team to ask if they were happy to produce a video to convey this information. The Manager (ICT Training) was happy to do this, and I was afforded the opportunity for full creative control over this project.

Production Process
I researched relevant videos published by other organisations to improve my understanding on the key messages, and undertook research around the USQ Wi-Fi network and features offered to students, and developed a creative brief to outline key messaging.

The production process was straightforward, with the project going through storyboard and receiving minor feedback from with ICT and additional input from the iconnect team. All graphics were developed from scratch in Adobe Illustrator this project, so it was entirely tailored to the visual style I was seeking. I opted to illustrate actual USQ tutorial rooms, the Springfield campus quad, and the iconnect Help Desk based on the real life elements within these storyboards, rather than illustrating them generically, so it linked in nicely with USQ’s brand.

I performed the voiceover in my home-based studio and applied the audio post-production myself. I then selected suitable licensed stock music to pair with the voiceover, and develop the draft soundtrack.

Proceeding the animation, I opted to make this very quick and dynamic, to ensure it paced quickly with the various key messages it communicated. The animation process was straightforward, and I was able to turn it around quickly alongside other priority work. Once the animation was completed, sound effects were sourced and dropped into the audio mix.

After these steps were completed, the final proof was submitted to the Manager (ICT Training) and iconnect stakeholders, and was approved with no changes. I submitted the file to the USQ Brand team for review, which it complied with, and was then submitted to the social media team for final upload to YouTube and embedding on the USQ Wi-Fi webpage.
